Mondays

Mondays

It’s 7:12 on a Sunday night, and what’s on my mind?

Monday.

A dreaded day for a large portion of humanity, and I understand why. Nothing beats vacation, and the weekend is essentially that: a mini-vacation from the routine.

I bet you know where this is going, but I am going to tell you anyway: I don’t hate Mondays. In fact, Monday is one of my favorite days of the week. It beats the crap out of Tuesday. Monday sets the tone.

When I used to wrestle in high school, my coach always preached that if an opponent knocked you out of bounds, you should run back to the starting/ready position. This sent the message that no matter what they did, you wouldn’t tire.

Grapple with your week the same way. After you get knocked out of the routine, run back into it. Prepare and set yourself up so the transition back to serious mode is as smooth as possible.

It’s 7:12 on a Sunday night. I just did my laundry, washed the dishes, made eight hardboiled eggs, and ate a bunch of broccoli.

I am ready for Monday. Are you?

Here are three quick tips to get the most out of your Monday:

1)   Know your plans for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is the first day of the week; you have to grind, so no 20-minute conversations about where to do lunch.

2)   Work out first thing in the morning. Set the tone on setting-the-tone day. If you do nothing else all day long, at least you worked out.

3) Go to bed on time, whatever that means for you. Get what you need tonight, because let’s face it, you might not have another chance this week.
